1) Personal recommendations are a great way to find good suppliers. If you are unfamiliar with the company don't be afraid to ask to speak to previous customers about their service.
2) Does he/she belong to a professional organisation, for example the MPA (Master Photographers Association) or BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography) not an absolute guarantee but if you like their work and they are qualified then this will give you an extra level of security.
3) Book early. It's obvious that the best things get booked up well in advance so don't hang around!
